The issue of how to relax before going to bed is one that has existed for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Anyone who has trouble sleeping often has dealt with this and knows how frustrating it can be. The truth is that in order to get good sleep consistently, you need to find a way to relax before bed. In this article I want to go over a few of the best ways that you can make that happen.
The first, and arguably most important tip is to set a normal routine. This is the base for any successful night’s sleep. If you do not have a set routine that you use on a nightly basis then you should start developing one tonight.
Do not use the computer or watch TV within one hour of your set bedtime. The stimulation that these quick-changing screens give to your brain will keep you up for hours on end. Turning off the screens will allow your mind to relax while you do some other type of pre-bedtime activity that is less mentally taxing.
Reading before bed is always a great idea. Some people find that either fiction or non-fiction works better at helping them relax for sleep, it’s just a matter of trying out both. Reading is a much better way to keep your mind entertained before sleep than TV. If you are someone who reads often, then this is something you probably already do. If you do not read much, then this could be a great way to get you back into it. Reading is great!
